Dr. Herbert Doane died in Booneville, Iowa, and was buried in Union Cemetery, St Thomas, Ontario. He was unmarried and was a medical doctor and practicing in Des Moines, Iowa. During an outbreak of influenza he continued to look after his patients. As a result, he contracted the disease which took his life. He is buried with his parents.
