Rushmer Hill married Sarah Jane Sherman in 1848. According to the 1870 U. S. Federal Census of Lamont, Michigan, Rushmer and Sarah Hill and three chilren and also Sarah's brother, William Sherman, were living in Lamont. After Sarah died in 1880, Rushmer Hill married Ruth Jordan Summer in May 1883, in Lamont, Michigan. Ruth Jordan died on August 20, 1903, of cancer, according to her death certificate.
