1887 Timothy and Kate celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1887 in Vacaville, CA.
    Newspaper article
"THE GOLDEN WEDDING: Saturday last these two patriarchs celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in Vacaville surrounded by their sons and their wives and children. There was present at the re-union in the forenoon the following: J.R. Parker, wife and two children; G.L. Parker, wife and daughter; O.E. Parker, wife and five children; H.L. Parker, wife and three children; Mrs. Martha Huchinson, SanJose; Richardson Chinn, wife and great-grand child; Mrs. A. McDonald of Winters and Eugene Harris, of Lake county, a grand son. This was an extra-ordinary number of decendants to be present and speaks well for the adhesion of the family.
In the evening a large number of their friends gathered at their residence to congratulate the old couple and to wish them many additional anniversaries. During the evening Elder Pattee read the following poem, written by Miss Sarah Higgins, Commemorative of the event, which we shall place under the caption: CATCHING A TROUT: To-night we're all assembled in this fair and happy land, in spite of many troubles, a bright and joyous band, to celebrate a great event that happened long ago, When the locks were bright with sunshine, that now are white with snow. Dear friends, if you will listen, I'll tell the wondrous tale of this couple walking hand-in-hand, through life's uncedrtain vale. Perhaps amongst the number, some few will warning take. And resolve the holy marriage vows their lips will never make. In fair Ohio's balm clime, land where good men die and Bucheye shoot its branches green toward an azure sky, There lived, full fifty years ago, a maiden young and fair, With liquid eyes so full and black and waves of raven hair. Kate Trout was the fair maiden's name of whom this tale I write, Her past had been a happy dream; her future seemed as bright. O;, many were the suitors who worshipped at her shrine and the number she rejected was somewhat akin to nine. As each hopeful one was treated to the mitten from her hand, Off in dark despair he wandered, sighing for a better land. But when her eighteenth year had come, and her heart was still her own, There came from grim New England's strand, a youth of high renown. Of noble parentage he came for I have his honest word, That his nephew's uncle's cousin's wife was the grandchild of a lord: And then you know, at Stony Point when Wayne cut such a figger, The man who gave the countersign was his own grandsire's nigger. But we'll dwell not on his ancestors, for some great author cries, In thunder tones, "Act well your part, there all the honor lies." Well, Parker was the noted name of this young gallant swain, A kind and tender heart had he, a wise untireing brain. Before the people there could think what Parker was about, He gave his mind to fishing, and soon he caught a "Trout!" And having caught this lovely Trout, as proud as proud could be, He gaily launched his bark upon the matrimonial see. Westward then they journeyed onward and their lives seemed bright and free, As the golden lines of sunset, dancing on the rippling sea, Parker was a loving husband and his heart was tried and true, But in one ungarded moment, things about him fairly flew. One evening as he crossed the threshold of his little cottage home, Pitying those who had no fire-sides, but throughout the world must roam, His head collided sharply with a saddle---woeful fate! And he pulled it down and threw it into the neighboring state! Onward still they journeyed westward Each year brought its griefs and cares, Each year brought its joys and sorrows, They were blessed with many children, One fair girl and seven boys; All were bright-eyed happy children, Life for whom was full of joys. Once again they journeyed westward, and beheld ere many days, California's glorious splendor, gilded with the sunset rays. Vacaville, this beautious city, then became their chosen home, And throughout the misty future never will they wish to roam. So, tonight we're all assembleld in fair Vaca's glorious clime, Halting but for one brief moment in the rushing stream of life. Round about us stand the children of this genial man and wife. All the air is thick with Parkers; You could cut them with a knife. Throughout the silent future while the tide of years shall bow, May the name of Parker ever be as pure and fair as now. May the hand of God be with them till the storm of life is past, and may it safely guide them through the pearly gates at last."]

This may or may not be the order of things; but would it not be more in keeping with the circumstances to say that Pompey's chief services on the occasion were in the fact of his having, by special agreement, procured the countersign for the Americans on the evening of the attack. (on stony point)…….We venture the opinion that Pompey did little effective service beyond giving the password for that night, and that on the discharge of the first gun, and that, too, on the outside of the first row abates, Pompey retired with accelerated speed. ….
If Pompey was the slave of Mr. Lamb, whose residence at that time stood on the high ground which formerly extended out as far as the locality of the present store of D. Tompkins & Sons, it would be natural to suppose that, in making his market visits to the British garrison, he would take the causeway leading directly from his "massa's" house to the foot of the hill, where the first abates cornered.

1893 -Obituary from "Woodland Daily Democrat"
Wed eve, 27 Sep 1893, died Suddenly
T.J. Parker expires of Neuralgia of the heart, in Vacaville.
"Oscar Parker returned from Vacaville Tuesday evening, where he went to attend the funeral of his father, who died suddenly at that place, at an early hour. last Sunday A.M.
Appears that the deceased had been complaining of a pain in the breast for 2 or 3 days. He did not regard it as a serious matter, and remonstrated when a physician was called. The physician examined him and pronounced his heart and lungs in good condition.
Mon eve, he went to bed as usual, and so far as his wife knows, slept during the night. In the A.M. he awoke and got out of bed about 5 o'clock. Mrs. Parker enquired why he was getting up so early, and he replied that he was tired, and thought he would get up and make a fire.
He partially robed himself in the bedroom, and retired to the sitting room and was setting on a sofa, and in the act of pulling on his stockings, when he fell over and expired immediately. The verdict was that he died of neuralgia of the heart.
Deceased was a native of NY, and 78yrs, 7 mos, 7 days old. He was well known and highly respected"

buried in Elmira Cemetary, Vacaville, California

Note: The Miles Parker listed on the grant deed with Timothy in Ohio in 1851 is in the
1850 Census Irondequoit, Monroe, New York. "Miles parker age 41 Laborer, born NY, Elizabeth age 38, born NY, Abigail J age 19 NY, Mary A 12 NY, Sarah M. 7 NY, Peter D. (Percy?) age 22 NY."
1860 Census London, Monroe, Michigan: "Miles Parker age 50 Farmer born NY, Elizabeth 46 NY, Mary 21 NY, Sarah 16 NY, Mariah 18 NY, Abigail 72 PA, Daniel Wright 8 WA, Samuel Agit 1 Mich"
1870 Census Vassar, Tuscola, Mich: "Miles Parker age 57 farmer NY, Elizabeth 53 NY, Sarah 27 NY, Mariah 17 NY, Charles 10 Mich"
Notice that the older Abigail in the 1860 Census is probably the same as the one in the 1850 census with Timothy Parker in the 1850 Ohio census.

Timothy married Catherine "Kate" TROUT on 28 May 1837 in Hartford, Licking, Ohio, United States. Notes:

I believe Catherine, who married Timothy Parker, was the daughter of Michael Trout, because John Westbrook was , made guardian of Michael's 3 daughters; Margaret, Helen and Catherine, in 1837. just before Catherine's marriage. John Westbrook lived next to Timothy in the 1840 Census in Licking County Ohio. Timothy Parker's mother was Abigail Westbrook. I believe John Westbrook to be related to her . Michael Trout was married to Sarah Baker. She later married John Westbrook as Sally Trout. Timothy and Catherine Parker moved to Powesheik County, Iowa. Catherine Trout's sister married Edward Griswald in 1841 in Powesheik County, Both of them and Sarah and John Westbrook are buried in Dresden Cemetery in Poweshiek County, Iowa.

"Yolo Weekly Mail", Friday, 15 Feb 1895, (Woodland newspaper, Yolo Co. archives): "Mrs T J Parker, mother of O E Parker, is dangerously ill at her home on Court St. She is suffering from heart trouble."

Obit from "Yolo Weekly Mail", Tues, Feb 26, 1895, pg 7: "Mrs. Catherine T. Parker died yesterday forenoon at the home of her son, Oscar E. Parker on Cort St. For the past five years the aged lady has been an invalid. Recently her health failed rapidly, and she could not survive an attack of lagrippe, with which she bravely struggled the past two weeks.
Deceased was a native of Ohio, and at the time of her death was aged 75 years, 1 mo, 11 days. She has been a resident of Yolo County for the past 25 years. A family of four sons who mourn her loss are: JR of Hungry Hollow, OE of Woodland, Hiram L of Kings Co, JM of Vacaville. The remains will be shipped to Vacaville, and the funeral held at that place at 10 am today."

Obit "Woodland Daily Democrat", 25 Feb 1895: "Death of a Good Woman, Mrs Catherine Parker passes away peacefully and Serenely. Mrs. Catherine Parker died at the residence of her son, O E Parker on Court street, at 11:30 am Sunday.
The immediatecause of her death was pneumonia, but she had been afflicted with paralysis for five years, and had been unable to walk for more than a year.
The deceased is native of Ohio and 75 years, 1 month and 10 days old. Her husband preceded her to the grave about a year ago, and he was buried in Vacaville,

after which they made their home in Yolo county.
She leaves four sons,m JR Parker, of Hungry Hollow, O E Parker of Woodland, H L Parker of Kings county, and J M Parker of Vacaville.
Mrs. Parker had been a devout member of the Christian church for more than fifty years. She was a woman of gentle and lovable disposition and exemplary character, and her death will be profoundly regretted by all who knew her. The body will be shipped to Vacaville on Tuesday for interment."

Katy died from Heart problems and Grippe.

The question was: whose father was the Catherine Trout who married Timothy Parker in 1837 in Licking County Ohio.

I believe Catherine Trout, who married Timothy Parker, was the daughter of Michael Trout and Sarah Baker. John Westbrook was made guardian of Michael's 3 daughters; Margaret, Helen and Catherine Trout, in 1837. just before Catherine's marriage to Timothy Parker on May 28, 1837.. Michael Trout died in 1822, and there is a marriage of a John Westbrook and Sally (a nickname for Sarah) Trout in Licking County, Ohio, 12 March 1825. I could not find John Westbrook in the Ohio 1820 census. He might have been living with his parents. I could not find Michael Trout in the 1810 Census in Licking County Ohio but found a Henry Trout, ( Henry is thought to be Michael’s father), in the neighboring county, Fairfield, in the 1806 tax list.
John Westbrook lived next to Timothy in the 1840 Census in Licking County Ohio. He had 2 males under 5, 1 male 40-50, 1 male 60-70, 1 female 10-15, 2 females 15-20, 1 female 30-40. Timothy Parker and John Westbrook were also neighbors in the 1850 Census in Licking County, Ohio and Timothy’s mother, Abigail, is living with him. Abigail’s maiden name was Westbrook. In the 1850 Census there is an Ephraim and Sarah Baker living next door to Timothy and Catherine Parker. It is possible that he is Sarah Baker,/Trout/Westbrook’s brother. Ephraim is 51 and Sarah Westbrook is 49. Although the marriage record states John Westbrook married Sally, In the 1850 through 1870 Censuses, John Westbrook’s wife is listed as Sarah. In the 1960 Census both the Timothy Parker family and the John Westbrook families have moved to Iowa within 30 miles or so of each other. Timothy in Poweshiek County and John in neighboring Iowa County. Before 1870 Timothy had moved tp California and John remained in Iowa. He and Sarah were buried in Poweshiek County. I also believe it was Catherine Trout’s, sister, Helen, who married Edward Griswold in Licking County, Ohioon Sep 27, 1841 and are listed in the 1856 Iowa Census in Poweshiek County. Both Edward and Helen Griswold are buried in the same cemetery as John and Sarah Westbrook. Timothy Parker's mother was Abigail Westbrook. I believe John Westbrook to be her brother. I have not proved this information. However, I believe with all of this related documentation, that the Catherine Trout who married Timothy Parker and the Helen Trout who married Edward Griswold are the daughters of Michael and Sarah Baker Trout . I have not found Margaret Trout’s marriage yet.
