Welcome to the “new look” (the 10th major revision) of The ParkerPress. I started The ParkerPress website in 1995 writing in raw html, “graduating” and sticking with Adobe GoLive for quite a few years (and revisions).
Lately, I’ve been spending a lot more time in high-end digital photography, and the maintenance of a manually programmed website became overwhelming. So I looked into pre-written, embedded software that would allow me to create albums, and have the software manage all the “back end” tedium. I still wrote the wrapper site, but even with this, the amount of work required kept me from updating the site often enough to keep myself happy.
So… I finally broke down and decided to install WordPress. Hopefully this will make it easier for me to keep things current and timely. It might work, it might fail, and I’ll have to find yet another new tool (toy?) to experiment with. So far, I’m happy with the results.
The links on the left are links to topics, and should beavailable throughout all pages on the site. The articles/posts are snippets of history, links to albums, and general information which are added as I ffind time. The links on the right are to historical entries, links to other sites I created/managed, and links to friends sites..
Two things to note:
- Some articles contain personal information and are password protected. Please contact me for passwords. I’m working on tying them to login names, so that you won’t need article passwords, but would have a site username instead.
- This site supports RSS feeds. If you have an RSS reader, youll be notified whenever I make updates automatically, rather than having to check back for updates.
So… Click away, have fun, and let me know if you have comments or suggestions…
